Morgan Rushworth TPH Hydraulic CNC Turret Punch Press
The Morgan Rushworth TPH range provides a robust and cost-effective solution for CNC punching, forming and marking a wide variety of sheet metal components. Combining proven hydraulic punching technology with advanced FANUC CNC control, the TPH is designed to deliver dependable accuracy, flexible production and consistent performance across both short production runs and continuous manufacturing environments.
Available with 20 or 30 tonnes of punching force, the range covers processing areas from 2,000 × 1,250 mm through to 3,000 × 1,500 mm. This allows users to select a machine that closely matches their typical sheet sizes, production requirements and available floorspace.
Proven Hydraulic Punching Performance
At the centre of the TPH is a high-speed hydraulic punching system using internationally recognised H+L Voith technology. This provides the controlled force required for reliable punching and forming while supporting the adjustment of stroke length and operating parameters for different tools and applications.
The TPH can process mild steel sheet up to approximately 6 mm thick, depending on the station and tooling being used. In addition to conventional punching, the machine can perform marking, stamping, nibbling, threading, embossing and a variety of forming operations. Adjustable stroke settings also make it possible to optimise the machine for specialist forming tools, wheeled tools and short bending operations.
This flexibility allows multiple processes to be completed on a single machine, reducing secondary operations and helping manufacturers shorten overall production times.
Heavy-Duty O-Frame Construction
Every TPH model is built around a rigid, hardened O-type monoblock frame. The enclosed frame construction provides high levels of dynamic and static rigidity, helping the machine resist deflection and vibration during high-speed or high-tonnage operation.
The frame is precisely machined to maintain accurate alignment between the punching head, turret and sheet-positioning axes. On relevant longer-axis configurations, an anti-deflection system further protects the ballscrew against vibration and unwanted movement, supporting accurate positioning and extending component service life.
This solid foundation enables the TPH to maintain consistent punching quality across the working area while providing the durability required for long-term industrial use.
Flexible 27- and 33-Station Turrets
The TPH range is available with either a 27- or 33-station thick turret, depending on the selected model. These configurations accommodate a broad selection of A, B, C and D station tooling, with a maximum punching diameter of 88.9 mm on 1 mm sheet.
Automatic index stations allow complex contours and features to be produced at different angles without manually rotating or changing the tool. On the 33-station turret, optional multi-tool arrangements such as 8A, 3B or 1C units can increase the total available tool capacity to as many as 54 tools.
This expanded tooling capacity allows more operations to be incorporated into a single programme, reducing manual tool changes and making the machine particularly well suited to varied or frequently changing production requirements.
Hardened station housings and steel-coated tool adaptors help protect the turret from wear. Tools are also lubricated automatically during operation, supporting consistent tool performance and reducing the need for manual lubrication.
Automatic Sheet Repositioning
Automatic sheet-repositioning clamps allow components longer than the machine’s standard X-axis travel to be processed without interrupting the programme. The control calculates and manages repositioning movements automatically, enabling longer sheets and larger component layouts to be completed efficiently.
Sheet-control switches are incorporated into the clamp assemblies, while software-based safety zones help prevent collisions between the clamps and punching tools. Additional systems detect warped or raised sheet material and monitor for tools that have failed to retract correctly.
These safeguards help protect the tooling, clamps, sheet material and machine while reducing the risk of avoidable production interruptions.
Smooth and Controlled Material Handling
TPH machines can be equipped with a brush table, ball-bearing table or a combination of both. The low-friction table surface supports the sheet throughout processing and allows material to move smoothly across the working area.
Brush support helps protect sensitive sheet surfaces from marking, while ball bearings make it easier to handle larger or heavier material. The machine automatically adjusts axis acceleration according to the weight of the sheet, maintaining controlled movement without compromising productivity.
A mobile control panel and foot pedal give the operator convenient access to essential machine functions during loading, setting and production.
FANUC CNC Control and Metalix CAD/CAM Software
The TPH is equipped with an industrial FANUC CNC control featuring a clear graphical interface and precise absolute positioning technology. Absolute encoders remove the need to return the machine axes to a reference position whenever the system is started, helping reduce preparation time.
Operators can control punching speeds, stroke positions, forming parameters and axis movements directly through the CNC. Programmes can be simulated before production, while integrated protection functions monitor clamp zones, tooling and machine movements.
Production information including operating hours, component quantities and stroke counts can be recorded for each programme and individual tool. This information can support production planning and help maintenance teams identify tooling that may require inspection or sharpening.
Metalix CAD/CAM software is included, bringing part design, tooling, nesting and CNC programme creation together within a single environment. Manual and automatic nesting functions help maximise sheet utilisation, while completed programmes can be transferred to the machine controller for production.
Designed for Reliable, Productive Operation
Automatic tool lubrication, hardened turret housings and the rigid monoblock frame are all designed to support long service life and minimise routine maintenance requirements. A wheeled scrap container simplifies waste removal, while machine diagnostics allow pneumatic cylinders, valves, switches and other operating systems to be monitored through the control.
Available options include additional punching and forming tools, multi-tool stations, stainless-steel ball tables, additional clamps, automatic loading and unloading, work chutes, part-drop systems, scrap extraction and tool-grinding equipment.
By combining proven hydraulic punching technology with flexible tooling, intelligent control and robust construction, the Morgan Rushworth TPH provides a versatile production platform for manufacturers seeking reliable CNC punching capacity at a competitive investment level.
