GL Profiles is a sheet metal work company based in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. The company needed to upgrade from their current punch press so were on the lookout for a replacement model.
We spoke to Ray Smith from GL Profiles about the company’s experience of purchasing the Baykal CNC Turret Punch Press from Selmach.

What led you to purchase a new machine? What was the challenge or objectives?
“We wanted to upgrade from our current punch press and when we saw the Selmach’s Turret Punch Press in action at a trade show we thought we’d look into buying one from them.”
How did you hear about Selmach and why did you choose them?
“We’d purchased a CNC rolling bending machine before so we knew that Selmach were a good, trusted company to buy from. We visited the factory to take another look and negotiated a deal with them.”
What features attracted you to the machine your purchased?
“We liked the configuration of the machine, particularly the index ability of the multi-tool function, which was not a common feature on these machines at the time. That was definitely what attracted us to this particular machine.”
How have you benefited from the machine? Did it meet your expectations?
“The machine is not in constant use but it gives us versatility. And yes, it certainly does meet all of our expectations.”
How have you benefited from using the machine? How has it helped you save time and increase productivity?
“It is faster than the previous machine and much more efficient.”
What are your thoughts on the aftercare and service throughout the process?
“Good service throughout the process.”
